Woman at her peak

Professionally and personally, Brown happily admits that she is at her peak."It's a nice place to be."

She enjoys singing now more than ever and feels more in command of her voice.

"I feel with my technique now I can do anything I want with my voice. I have the confidence of years. And I feel I have absorbed some of the musicality of all the incredible people I've worked with."

She hopes to sing into her 60s, which would be a rarity, considering the vocal demands placed on sopranos, but Brown has been aware from a young age that someday singing would end and a new career would begin.

"I have no idea what it will be like when my voice starts to go," Brown says without discernible fear. "I just know I'm going to have to start reaching out to find other things."

Brown could relate recently while reading how another singer responded when asked what she would like to be if not a singer. The singer's response was "dead."
